First of all I'd like to say that I havn't really played GC original aside from the demo and that was recently. My backgroun on these types of games comes from MoO2 and 3 mostly however I am very intrigued by this title and thats why I decided to join the beta. So lets see where to begin? I'm going to try to point out as many things that seem like they may be oversights or something and hopefully not upset anyone because they're things that aren't yet implemented or that will be corrected in future releases. Ok so here goes. One thing I noticed is that it appears you get more tech picks if you create a custom race. I'm almost certain I was able to choose everything the default races had and then some other techs to. In addition, regardeless of what techs I chose to start with my default starting ships had the same starting equipment wihch may have lead to a CTD at one point when I was checking out the mass driver weapons on my flagship and I had taken beam weapons instead. In addition, I feel like I'm just stumbling around in the dark a lot of the time, this is probably just because lots of stuff hasn't been implemented yet but for example I can build factories but I don't exactly know what sort of things they improve. Do they help me build ships faster or just buildings? In addition, no matter what type of ships I choose for my custom race, the chassis are always the same except for the chassis of the default ships. I think the ability to design your own ships is cool but I think having an overall chassis and you simply connect components to hard points is a little off the mark. I feel like maybe there should be components like "hull" and each hull piece has a certain number of hardpoints and you just connect lots of hulls together to get big ships instead of having default sizes but I suppose its far too late to implement something like that. I also think there ought to be different looks for more components than just the basic hulls. Alright well thats all I can think of off the top of my head. Mostly the game runs pretty smoothly for me and it seems like its going to be very cool when its finished. Good job guys and keep working hard.
