This occured after having captured several planets from other races, so it has the appearance of being intermittant. I have already sent a bug report to boogieback. Here is the SE report so that others may have a chance of recognizing dujplicate crashes and save Stardock the time of sorting them out.

Well, what goes around comes around. Another race just tried to capture one of my planets and the game crashed. I am sending the SE report and debug file to Scott. Here is the SE report so others can watch for duplicates.

Out of curiousity, have you gotten the "conventional" method to work yet? Every time I try it, I get attacks and defenders with attack 0 weapons. This combat takes, um, awhile (i.e., no change in troop counts in ~1 min. Obviously, this is wrong behavior for the program (should recognize this as a tie), but have you gotten troops with non-zero attack ratings or are you using a different method?

The only method I have tried is the "conventional" (or as the game says "traditional combat") method. It has worked every time (unless I got a CTD ).

My guess is that there is button missing on the invade pop up after you select the go button (invade?--can't remember the exact text)for invade method

It looks like they are still using the GC1 code and which had a random seed stop button that pops up.

i found that by hitting enter after hitting the invade button resolves the combate almost immediately

hmm not a clear explaination but experiment or a better wordsmith can articulate the issue better than me.

The "Hit any key" button is missing from the invasion screen. You have to hit enter... then the game resolves via standard invasion coding.

If you pay attention, you get the quick "2 vs 2", "3 vs 2", "1 vs 1" thing changing at the top. That's the old GC1 thing where the game was generating its basic odds, and you hit the bar when you see something you like (or just want to start the invasion). If you are seeing "0 vs 0", don't panic. I think. You should still be able to invade. Just hit return to trigger the invasion resolution. You will win or lose. If you win, you capture the planet. If you lose, send in more marines!

I'm sorry, Marquesa De Sade. I had to update my video card drivers to get GC2 to work. I'm guessing you've done that by now. Good luck!
