It seems kind of odd that beta doesn't have an 'easy' update feature.
I.e. two update streams, production release, vs beta.
The stream could be baked into the version downloaded.

I would not suggest auto update, but certainly auto notify, and easy download.

Do not allow beta to be subscribed from within release though.

I would have thought that of all streams, any feedback (which is the purpose of beta) would be especially useless if not on latest beta version.
Beta also has lesser assurances of good function, so ill considered management and awareness of beta download and anything that arises is more at the agreed risk of the user.
