Fences Subscription or Permanent License

Hi, I am interested purchasing Fences.   Is there any advantage/disadvantage to purchasing a permanent license over a subscription?   Does the Permanent license allow you to keep upgrading to the next major version?   If not, I assume the subscription version makes more sense.   Thanks.
