Game will not load

So recently I've had an issue where whenever I try to start a new game the loading screen gets to "Setting Up Players" and just stops. The music still plays and I can still move the arrow around so I'm not really sure what's going on.

Here's my specifications.

Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-7200U CPU @ 2.50GHz 2.70 GHz

4.00 GB

64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

Windows 10 Pro

20H2

I don't believe I have a dedicated graphics card, though the game has worked just fine for me up till now. I've had the game since launch and this problem only came about in the last month or so.

So it appears that all my drivers are up to date but I'm still having the issue.

Are you using the generic driver for the graphics card? I ask because others have had this problem with integrated graphics cards and manufacturer provided drivers.

You mentioned it worked before, did any significant changes occur? Like installing a new anti-virus.

I'm using the generic driver. The laptop in question is also very old and beat up (its missing some of its outer shell) and while still works fine I'm going to be replacing it with a computer more dedicated to gaming.
