game will not start suddenly

I have been playing the game for a few weeks and now today it will not start. I uninstalled and reinstalled both steam and the game. During the validation of the files an error says "1 file failed to validate and will be reacquired". Any suggestions?

Please post your system's specifications.

And I need more details on what is happening with the game. Is it failing to start at all or is not proceeding past a certain point?
