Location bar become too large in default theme, uninstalling WB does not help (Windows 2004)

I've been using WindowBlinds 10.84 on Windows version 2004 (OS Build 19041.388).

After changing styles multiple times with WinBlinds, I tried to reset the theme to the original theme of windows 10, so I tried to apply the "default" theme. But some things were not restores, for example, the height of the location bar of file explorer, which was changed to be larger via certain winblind styles, was not restored. Also there is a weird margin between the title bar and the location bar of file explorer.

This is how it currently looks like -- the height of the location bar is somehow enlarged.

For comparison, here is a screenshot taken from my another computer. Here it is the normal height of the location bar. There is virtually no margin between the folder icon and border of the address bar.

What I've done is the following: As I remember, I've switched across several pre-installed themes. While doing that, I checked and unchecked "Always use OS start button rather than ..." option and "Disable ribbon in Explorer windows" and "The taskbar should be sized as follows" to be small taskbar size (but I noticed that this make start bar much thinner than what the Windows 10 functionality "small icons in taskbar" option provides).

What I've tried is thte following:

- Uninstalled WB

- Reinstall WB (either via Object Desktop or via standalone installer) and execute "Purge_WB" as described in https://forums.stardock.com/486023/windowblinds-support-faq#reinstalling

- sfc /scannow

- Perform "Reset My PC" of Windows 10 2004, with the option "keep my files", both WB installed or uninstalled.

But in each time this bug of file explorer was not removed. It is very weird that it is not fixed by Windows reset. Maybe what WB does was contained in some user files? I can still try a full reset of the windows but that is more time consuming.

Developers of this product should know what their program does to the system, can someone provide steps to fix this bug?

The address bar/Search bar has been changed as of Windows 10 1909. It is possible to hack it to go back to normal size on that version, but with 2004 build, its now locked. You will not be able to change it back to the original size. You would need to make a feedback request on the windows feedback hub. (Though microsoft probably wont listen)

Sorry to hear you are having issues. I can't see the difference between your two screenshot. It best to have both system at same state. ie. both have groupy off, same light or dark theme, same ribbon roll up. and make sure same scaling and resolution too..

He is talking bout this area in file explorer. As of Windows 10 1909, microsoft changed the size of both the address bar/Search bar. There is no bug with Windowblinds, its just a feature change that happened with the 1909 update.

Huh, I wasn't aware of that that it is a "feature". maybe my windows has been updated during windows reset. I am certain that WindowBlinds had some issues, because at first, there were other problems with the file explorer after uninstalling WindowBlinds. Resetting the Windows fixed some of them, and this location bar issue remained, so I posted them. And this Windows 2004 build's file explorer is so buggy, so I thought that was a problem of WindowBlinds.

There is still an "issue", visible only when the location bar is focused. This is how it looks like on my end:

Note that how the bottom border of the location bar is missing. (It is not because of cropping the image!)

This is how it looks in another PC with Windows 10 2004:

Here the bottom border is clearly visible even if the location bar is focused. But now I'm not sure whether this is caused by WindowBlinds or a bug of Windows 10. Does anybody has an idea to fix this?

My main pc is on Win10 v1909 and it running Windowblinds on and off for work purpose. But I don't see the issue you mentioned above.Here my screenshot just disable Windowblinds and change to Win10 light theme.

Sometimes restart explorer.exe helps. But if that don't help you can try cleanboot to see if there is something conflicting with your system. : https://forums.stardock.com/486023/windowblinds-support-faq#cleanboot
