I purchased ObjectDock Plus back in 2016. It was a standalone license for a product selling for ~$50 (I got it on sale for ~$20). I went to reinstall the software today for something that I am working on, but when I go to activate the product I am getting a loop of errors.
- The first indicates "Invalid Registration"
- <click OK> which returns you to the activation screen. This continues until you close the window
- A new window appears "The product activation was unsuccessful (Code: 5)"
- <click OK>
- Another window pops up and indicates "Product activation was unsuccessful. Please try again. The form at https://www.stardock.com/support can be used to resend the lasted download link and serial number to the email address you previously activated under.
If I follow that link and resend the link and serial, the process cycles all over again. I should also note that the key is deactivated on all other machines.
I went ahead and checked other locations for the product key and the website is indicating it is expired. What? I purchased a full product, not a subscription. I checked the receipt, there wasn't a link to a ToS that indicates anything like a subscription. Heck, the only things I can find that alludes to any time period at all during the purchase path is on the website where WAYYY at the bottom there is a line that indicates Access updates and betas for included software for one year. Well thats fine, it indicates that I get updates and betas for a year, not that the software is only valid for a year license. The EULA which only indicates that the license starts when I purchase the software:
"TERM
This license is effective from your date of purchase and shall remain in force until terminated. You may terminate the license and this agreement at any time by destroying the SOFTWARE and its documentation, together with all copies in any form. "
Confused as to what was going on I contacted support. They should be able to help me, its a product key activation error. I instead was sent to above link (which didn't resolve the issue) and was then told that if that didn't work to contact the forums, which seems odd to me due to the personal nature of product keys, but ok, I'll do my due diligence and post here.
How do I get my key working?
