Campaign turn limit

Is there a campaign turn limit I didn't know about. I'm playing vanilla GC3 Altarian Prophecy mission 1 and I liberated all the planets I needed to yet the Altarians still declare war on me making me fail the mission. The turn count is just over 600 and I didn't colonize any planets in there territory either. I think it does have something to do with the turn limits because the same thing happened last night also. The only difference was I hadn't liberated the main planet Vol.

I really surprised that 73 people looked at this message and NO ONE had an answer for me. That is fine, I have figured out what the issue was. Seems my diplomacy level with them degraded enough for them to declare war on me. I played the campaign again tonight and I was able to beat it. Took me 627 turns as they took forever to send a transport to take back the planet. I was -8500 credits, guess I should have built some economic starbases .
