Las weekend I decided to test the Creators Update. Soon after installation, I had a problem where the computer boots only to a black desktop and a cursor. No taskbar, no icons, and nothing else.
I searhed on Google to see what the problem could be, and found a link to the forums where someone said WindowBlnds 10 would not work with the Anniversary update. I tried booting into Safe Mode to uninstall it, but Safe Mode was unusable -- the screen flashed constantly, and I could not even open the Start menu. Out of options, I booted the Windows 8 install on the same computer, and deleted the WindowBlinds folder. Just in case, I decided to delete the WindowFX folder as well.
Sure enough, the Creator update preview booted and ran without issues. After a while I decided to reinstall only WindowFX since I figured WindowBlinds was the issue. A minute after installing, the desktop went dark, thought the programs I had open kept running. I rebooted and got the dark desktop again. Again I started Windows 8 to delete that folder, and I will not try to reinstall WindowFX.
I know you folks have a program that collects data when issues happen, but I don't think I could get it to work, since I can't run anything when the problem happens.
Any suggestions?
