Can I play this on my laptop?

Please help.

Im planning to buy this game but I wanted to know if my laptop can handle this.

Can I play? And up to what map size and video settings. Thanks.

If your HD is at least a 4000 I would add more memory if can.

Other then that it look OK.

I think that it would not run well - you only have 4Gb RAM, and that is shared between system and GPU. I doubt you could use anything other than the smallest galaxy sizes unfortunately.

I agree, your not going to be at all happy with performance & and that's assuming it doesn't constantly crash on you (which i think it will) Do you have a desk top machine also?

That limited memory worries me too. 4Gb is our minimum and the fact that it is shared by your OS, GalCiv3 and your video card will make rough. You will definitely be limited to the smaller map sizes, I don't know if it will be a great gaming experience for you.

This GPU driver looks very old for GC3, and I would expect GC3 to have difficulties with it. You may wish to check directly on the Intel site for a newer driver. Don't trust your computer to get a newer driver without extra effort on your part!

I have an older athelon quadcore and 4gb and the game plays quite poorly for me. It used to be worse in previous betas though. Now I have terrible tracking issues and it slogs between turns. I've given up playing it until I get a better computer.

I have a similar setup with similar results.

It takes several minutes just to get to the main menu. Panning on the map can have 10-second hiccups. Zooming from tactical view to closeup view just kills the poor machine. Clicking on subscreens can take ~10+ seconds to visually update.

It's pretty rough.

Another 4GB of RAM, either in DDR2 or DDR3 runs under $50. And it will help all over the place in your system, and make GC3 quite playable.

Realistically, 6GB is the minimum to be able to play well now. Maybe with future tuning, they can bring that down a bit, but I'd never recommend a system under 6GB to play GC3.

Like others, I don't suggest using a machine with low RAM.

Also, that lowly i3 processor is gonna howl in pain on bigger galaxies. I'd skip it altogether and start looking for an upgrade.

Hey, Galciv 2 is still a good game! Play that while you save up for a new laptop. Except when you're working extra overtime or your second job so that you can afford your new laptop sooner, that is.
