ships shown on the bottom row appear to turn red as they take damage during the fight. In the pic you can see M14-9 totally red (destroyed?) but it has actually yet to take any damage and survived the battle with none. I may not be interpreting it right. Just a nit FYI

I've seen the same thing. It kind of looks like the damage settings in those little ship icons from the previous battle are carried over into a new one.
