Beta 5 .80 Ideology progressing too fast?

I'm getting a new pragmatic ideology pick with every planet I colonize.  In the last few betas, if I remember correctly, you accumulated ideology points and the more advanced picks required more points.  Now it looks, at least in the pragmatic tree, like all picks require the same amount of points, and you get that number of points just by colonizing a planet.

Is anyone else seeing this?

ya im also getting ideology points very fast, not building the building that give points either.

Have you been checking to see if your ideology points were deducted when you chose a trait?  It wasn't for me in the short game I played today.  I'm pretty sure this is a bug and I'll be sending in a ticket tomorrow when I have the chance.  But it wouldn't hurt if multiple people sent them in if they are noticing the same things.

With the new interface I don't see where my current ideology point totals are displayed.  Where do you see them?

Edit: Oh, never mind, I found out.  There's a tooltip on the "Pragmatic" heading at the top.  It says I have 70 points, which I think would indicate that the points are being deducted.

Just the opposite, actually. . How many worlds have you colonized?  Did you always choose the same ideology?  When you choose a trait, they should be getting pretty expensive by now.  For you to have 70 points sitting around leads me to believe they aren't being deducted at all.  It certainly fits what I've observed at least.

At this point I have 20 colonies and 11 Pragmatic picks, 0 Benevolent and 0 Malevolent.  I wish I had known to check how many points I had much earlier.  At some point I noticed that the picks cost 70 points, and after I chose the next one that they cost 80 points.  Right now my next one is 120 points, and I haven't gotten a pick for the last several colonies as opposed to the way I was at the beginning with one pick per colony.  So maybe you're right, they aren't getting deducted.  My current total is 80 points.

I started a new game, got my first colony and 10 ideology points, spent them on an ideology pick, and the tooltip says I still have 10 points left with the next pick costing 20 points.  So the bug definitely is that the points aren't being deducted when spent.

I have observed an increase in the pace of ideology as well. I haven't looked to see if if it was a bug and they weren't being deducted. I have also in a few games encountered "locked" ideology trees. Occurring as early as the first investment in another.

I opened ticket #BYB-100-39440 for this problem tonight and supplied a saved game with instructions on steps to take to demonstrate the problem.

I got a response to my ticket today stating that the developers had been able to reproduce the problem and that a fix would be in the next patch.  Great!
