What shutdown parameters is Start8 using to shut down the computer? Whenever I use the Start8 menu's shutdown command my computer does a hibernate or sleep (not sure which, only that the laptop's led "quarter moon" lamp lights up during the shutdown phase which indicates the computer is going to sleep or hibernating). I do not get this behavior whenever I choose the native Windows 8 charm bar shutdown i.e. the sleep/hibernate led does not light up and the computer cleanly and simply shuts off. The Start8 shutdown command also takes longer as does startup, with the computer often hanging up and requiring a held-down power button shutoff during start and then a manual restart or power-on.
I haven't tried disabling hibernation (and subsequent deleting of the hiberfil.sys file) as I'd prefer to have that option available but might give it a go to see if it changes Start8's shutdown behavior. Just not sure what might be causing this strange occurrence. Like I said, native Windows 8 shutdown does just that, powers off without sleep or hibernation as indicated by the laptop's led sleep/hibernation lamp activating.

EDIT: Just disabled hibernation using the command prompt (powercfg -h off) and, using the Start8 shutdown command, the system powered off cleanly without using hibernation; the laptop's sleep/hibernate lamp remained off. Shutdown was also faster. Any ideas about what's up with that. It would be nice to have Start8 shutdown command work without having to disable hibernation altogether. Makes no sense to me especially when the native Win8 shutdown works as expected without messing about with sleep or hibernation settings.
