Surviving in a harsh and unforgiving world requires much sacrifice, be it in resources or men. Both are vital to the survival of Men and Fallen alike. Resources such as wood, clay and metal aid us in rebuilding the world, aswell as creating the tools necessary for our survival, be it a miners pick or a soldiers sword. We make tools to supply our men, so that they can do their duty, but somewhere, sometimes, the line between tool and the wielder of such become blurred, intermingled. I am of course speaking of Golems, as they are tools made by Man or Fallen, but they serve a purpose much like the soldiers. To defend our people, or attack others. The most outstanding Golems that are made in this twilight age, where ruin and restoration balance on a fine edge, are created by the people of Gilden, but while they make the most powerful ones from a military perspective, they are by far not the only ones that employ servants made of ore, metal and magic. Man and Fallen alike practice the arts of Golemancy, in what is universally known as the Guardian. A stalwart defender often built to protect our settlements regardless of its purposes, be it a fertile Town that produce what food they can in a ravaged world, a Conclave in pursuits of unearthing lost knowledge, or an impenetrable Fortress meant to defend the borders of our Kingdoms or Empires.
The Guardian serves as a powerful defender, stalwart and unyielding, but that is in the end, all it is. A Soldier that knows neither fear or exhaustion. Many of our people, particularly the men and women serving in the Militia, do not understand its nature, yet they rely on it to fight by their sides, or even leading the charge against would be attackers. The knowledge needed and the resources used to create a Guardian are imbalanced. A soldier of stone infused with barely enough magic to walk and swing a weapon is poor use of this knowledge, and cold stone do not comfort nor inspire our people as much as it could. If we, the Sovereigns, were to strive for excellence in performance over mediocrity, we could do so much more for our people. Of our Champions, there are many of them that walk the Path of the Defender, and their very pressence inspire and rally our troops, spurring them on to perform heroics rather than doing just enough to survive another day. This inspiration, this powerful 'Aura' that our Defenders develope, is not only based on their charisma and ability to lead, but is also based in subtle magics. If we can only replicate part of this magic for our Guardians, they would truly be able to live up to their name, and perhaps, perhaps... Our people would be able to sleep in peace, knowing that a Guardian, not just a man of stone, stands ever vigilant in their defense.
We, the Sovereigns, should strive for excellence above all, not only for ourselves, but also for our people. - Lady Azhaline Baneceladon

tl;dr, I suggest the following improvements to the Guardian Statue and Guardian Idol buildings:
1) Shieldwall for Statue/Idol
2) Obsidian Shield I/II for Statue/Idol
3) Guardian I/II for Statue/Idol
4) Leadership I/II for Statue/Idol
5) -5%/10% Unrest for Statue/Idol
6) Equipment that scales with technology for Statue/Idol, even if it is only a 2H Hammer, although 1H Mace+Shield would make them more 'Defender' and less 'Sauron', in my opinion that is, which doesn't count for much
This is but a suggestion, and while I certainly would like to see it happen, I will not shed a tear if it doesn't. And I guess a downside to such fancy improvements would be increased crystal cost, if a downside is even needed.
Opinions appreciated, thanks.
