Here is some somewhat random feedback after playing a couple of games:
First of all, I've been staying up to late, which is bad for my health but a good sign for the game quality.
There is already a thread for this, but add one more voice that wants to see city details when choosing a level up choice. Also, add to this the ability to see more about each possible city choice when assigning a trophy (like after killing Morain).
Speaking of killing Morain, I could not successfully complete the 'Clear the scarred tiles to heal this diseased land quest'. I'm pretty sure I killed everything and explored every tile in that willdlands.
It is either not possible (or not intuitive) how to join 2 armies on the same square that have become separated (this can quite easily happen if you accidentally only have one hero selected and then try to move the army). I'd like to be able to do this.
It would be nice to have a an auto-resolve combat option that told the AI playing my side for me not to use any mana in the battle
The fact that the monument built on a location to add prestige and the monument built in town to increase ZOC have the same name is occasionally slightly confusing when looking at a build queue.
I was surprised when buying tech from other factions that the points didn't go into what I was researching but some other seemingly random tech. This might be as designed but I'd like to know what I'm buying in the trade screen, or at least know the logic behind where it puts the points.
I have a hero with Impulsive, but when he takes that first turn, I don't see the toolbar at the bottom with skills, spells and other options.
In a tactical battle, a shrill lord cast fireball centered on one of my heros next to him, catching himself in the blast unnecessarily (there were no other units next to him, so it wasn't a 2 for 1 situation where catching yourself in the blast might make sense).
I have seen some other posts discussing building of units vs. leveling heros and just building cities and I will note that I have not been building very many units. I think building units needs to somehow be faster/cheaper or more effective as compared with building buildings and leveling heroes than it currently is.
When travelling with slower units. the faster units end up ending their turn with no movement points, so they can't break off from the army and continue if they wanted to. I would potentially like to break up my army and have faster units continue to be able to move. I think this would encourage me to combine heroes with slower units, as the heroes could move a square out at the end of movement (say, to enter a goody hut) and then rejoin the group.
It doesn't look like you can mount pioneers to make them move faster. There may be a good reason for this, but it seems like something that I might want to do at some point.
It might be too late to add them, but I like the idea of tactical spells that affect the battleground itself. Things along the lines of wall of ice, earth to mud, stinking cloud, etc.
In one tactical battle, I had a hero and a pioneer fighting some trolls, the trolls avoided the hero and moved toward the pioneer, but only one square at a time, allowing the hero to pick them off. They should have either ganged up on the hero or ran past him to squish the pioneer.
The scout ability might make for an interesting hero trait that could be gained during level up.
If I have a non-aggression pact with someone, ideally, I'd like to be able to move through their cities and/or other improvements.
