Crash on creation of new game

I just installed the game (via download from Impulse), and after updating my NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250 driver on Windows Vista Home Premium OS, I got all the way through the setting up of new game.  But after clicking the last "next" button, the program invariably crashes.

And I've already uninstalled and reinstalled (which is pretty time-consuming via Impulse), and still no luck.

The debug indicates the localization setting is still not properly set, so Ultimate might be using a different registry key than the files cover--if you're not comfortable with poking around in there and finding it yourself, shoot a mail to support@stardock.com and they should be able to handle it.

All three registry folders (GalCiv2 plus the two subfolders DarkAvatar and Twilight) contain the "Language=English" REG_SZ, but all three also contain a "(Default)Value not set)" REG_SZ as well... Could that be what is screwing this up?

No, that's always there. Basically, if those keys from the file aren't doing the trick, there is probably another key (folder) elsewhere in the software branch that the game is looking for that needs that language value set on it. It may be as simple as adding a GalCiv2UL key in the Drengin.net key and adding the language value there, though I don't have any way to confirm it presently.

The reg file predates the Ultimate release and this is the first report I've seen of it not fixing the issue, so I'd need to download that build in order to verify if that's all it needs.

Edit: Confirmed, that's where it will be looking. This should do the trick.
