Why not have the tool tips for spells just dynamically update their values based on the number of Shards you have, instead of making the player do the math?
Say i have 2 fire shards
"8 fire damage (+4 per shard)"
how about we have instead
"16 fire damage (+4 per shard)"
where the different coloring of damage indicates that is is boosted above base values, and this way you can see the ACTUAL damage you are doing. while leaving the knowledge of the equation without having to do the math your self every time you look at a spell.
This fits in with why you redid the dodge/accuracy and spell mastery/resistance. Understanding at a glance. (And why stop at spells?)
