Auto resolve combat uses up a turn of movement. If the battle is played out in tactical, no movement is used for the battle.
I hadn't realized this before but you're right. Given how restricted movement bonuses are now (a good thing!) this is a significant penalty for using a time-saving feature of the game.

Additionally auto resolve gives me only about half exp, so atm its best to enter combat, skip one turn and do autoresolve then.

Yep this is true. I used Auto-resolve for the first time ever in this game (I don't know why people like or even perfer this) and compared it to running TC and the OP is correct.
Auto-resolve has...issues.
This is still borked in v0.90. Working as intended?
Really? Bummer! Though I didn't see anything in the novel of patch notes that talked about changing/improving auto-resolve in this regard.
