Stardock Store reporting that IE9 not supported?

By on January 27, 2012 8:09:13 PM from WinCustomize Forums WinCustomize Forums

Thought I'd pop into the Stardock store today and download the new version of WindowBlinds and was surprised that I recieved an out of date browser warning.

While I was able to proceed without an issue, I thought you guys in support might want to be aware of it. As you can see by the image below, I'm running an up to date 32bit version of IE9.

Wow, those gremlins have been working overtime this week and running amok though the store. I just checked with XP/IE8 and Win7/IE9. all is good here.

Does that appearing have anything to do with the webpage? I thought IE9 might just check itself when opened up or something.

I don't recognize that alert.  I'd look to some other external influence.

That's an advertisement.  Yahoo has done the same thing to me before.  They're just trying to get people to install a browser with a toolbar and then collect an advertising fee.

Quoting Zubaz,

I can't picture Stardock recommending 5 different browsers. Especially for downloading from the store. Isn't IE sort of the "standard" ? (no flaming, FF users)

Edit: I hope BDBF is correct and it's just a very poorly timed ad. I'll keep my eye out for it.

The wording in the message and the fading of the page is what makes me think it's the site itself. Under the menu bar of the "about IE box" I had open, there was a link to click to ignore the message and once I clicked it, the page faded in without any problems.

Also I only had one tab open and store page is a secure site, which rules out an ad pop up.

When I go to the site now, the page opens correctly. Probably just a glitch but I thought it best to mention it.
