If you disable the Auto Turn option, select a unit to move more fields than possible in one turn and click on the end turn button, the next turn won't automatically move the unit to the red cross mark. You have to right click again on the red cross mark for the unit to move to the desired location instead. At least in Age Of Wonders this was different.
