So I used to play a LOT of Elemental (bought it Day One and loved it, despite the issues), but I'm a retail manager and with the holidays around the corner, I haven't been able to play at all the past few weeks. However, I have been following the news about the upcoming 1.1 beta, and finally, last night I got some time to play. I went to Impulse, set it to "Show Pre-Release Versions" and downloaded the latest patch available (which I assumed was 1.1). I then hit "Run" and got super-excited!
And that's when everything went wrong.
I got a message saying "Failed to download data file. Please make sure that you are connected to the internet, have signed into Impulse, and that no firewall or anti-virus program is blocking Elemental." The game absolutely will not run. I have never EVER received this message in any of my time playing Elemental before, and I have not changed my antivirus or firewall.
Here are the steps I have taken (many of them from tips on these forums):
1. Checked my firewall and anti-virus settings, and both allow both Impulse and Elemental.
2. Turned off the antivirus entirely and tried running the game -- same message.
3. Went into Impulse and press "Change Log-In." My info was pre-populated in the Acccount Name or Email and Password boxes. I pressed Log-In, and after verifying for a second, the Log-In box went away. I guess I'm logged in...
4. I realized that the version of the game I updated to was actually v1.09n BETA, not 1.1 BETA. I tried pressing Refresh and Update and restarting Impulse, but it's not giving me the option to update up to 1.1.
5. I actually set Impulse back to not allowing pre-release versions, then I uninstalled the whole thing and reinstalled. Once that was done, I set in back to showing pre-release versions and updated again with the EXACT SAME RESULTS.
So here I am now. Not only can I not play the 1.1 beta that I have been waiting for, but I can't even play the v1.09n version.
Is there anyone out there who can help me? This is the first time I have ever been truly let down by Elemental. I don't know what to do here.
