During the end of my turn - when the button you push to let the AI have a turn is greyed out - it normally just takes a few seconds before control of the game comes back to me. In this case it went to greyed out and stayed there. Eventually, I used task master to shut down elemental.
This was way into a game on one of the very large mod maps that I found in your map mods section.
