I played 1.09, although Magic system is established, feel like Elemental just missing some fun and great / uniqueness - the kind of "uhmmm" feeling
1) Magic books
a) Life and death is both white colored symbol? can we consider Death as black or at least grey color to differentiate?

Each Magic book is not powerful and only have 1 pick, 3 points - yes or no, there is Advance / moderate / basic set of Magic books?
c) Each Magic books independence / uniqueness is not emphasized, something like max 3 type of magic books for any custom sovereign could really make him more interesting.
d) Something like you cannot pickup both life and death magic books - exception to some special story driven characters, this make sense - you cant be good and bad at the same time and add more uniqueness
e) Label each magic with frame color or theme, (example - all the earth spell with green frame - easy look and great feeling.
f) To many numbers in the UI screen just like playing with numbers, probably we can consider Icons, big potion for 10 mana, small potion 1 mana if a spell need 12 mana, we can put 1 big potion and 2 small potion Icon there. align / arrange the icon neatly so that It can be digested by the brain within a few second after looking at it
Above is the my 2 cents, and sincerely hope it will helps. Elemental could be more addicting if it can restore the much needed unique feel IMHO.
