This should be an option, that is default on, until you've got the engine mostly down then you should switch to default off.
Basically, Copy Valve in this regard.
On the Shift+Tab Impulse, add a report bug feature, that opens a screen that's identical to what Valve uses with TF2.
When someone sends a bug, the game also sends their config, an autosave, and debug.err
I think that would make fixing things a lot easier for you, but unsure if you can implement this quickly.
