This is just sad. Including Frogboys quoted response that Bill_Door posted. Had no idea he felt that way. No one I know wants to steal games or anything else.
Go down Ubisofts path then you will lose at least one paying customer here. Maybe there are so many people who buy these products regardless of DRM schemes that Frogboy does not mind losing those who do care. I don't know how this will all evolve and hopefully this is just a short hiccup in history of PC's and gaming.
I think its been said many times in the past by many different people: Those who will steal, will continue to do so regardless of what products or items being sold. If you lump the paying customer into this category, like Ubisoft, then you insult all your customers. Of course many don't know or care. Not everyone can be pc centric or even cares about pc's in general. Maybe I'm just living in the past and can't see the writing on the wall from Frogboys perspective. If so Frogboy, I apologize ahead of time. These issues are very complicated and decisions on what to do about them should never be rushed.
As long as Stardock has demo version's of games then the consumer has the chance to look first, then purchase if test run feels good. Keep this and you will continue to grow as a company(along with the product being solid, and continued support for said product).
Side comment on Luckmann's avatar. Capitalism has always been around. Same with Socialism. Name me a time in history when people didn't trade, buy or barter? You can't. Same with Socialism. When did people isolate themselves completely? Never. Otherwise our species would have become extinct along time ago. People who disagree with this I feel are living in their own fantasy world. Maybe there are apects or variations to each of these ISM's which people disagree with but those are just sliders on the overall LIFESCALE.
Luckmann, not flaming you, just commenting on your current avatar because of Orvidos post under yours. I think your presence makes the Elemental forums a better place. Along with Raven X, Wintersong, Tasunke, Demiansky, Frogboy, etc.
EvilScience, I don't know how you truly feel about this subject but I think you would like to purchase games, install them and not have to worry about disks being mandatory to load each and every time you play a game. That is my wish also. What you need to do though, is use Demo free versions for trial that Stardock and other game companies provide. If you don't like the demo then don't buy the game. If you do then purchase. No need to go to torrent sites for this. If the software company does not provide a demo of their product then don't but it, period. They don't deserve or want your support. Don't steal it because you are angry or any other reason. If a car company doesn't want you to test drive their vehicle before purchase does that mean you will then go out and steal one? I don't think so..Good luck over there and realize that games are a choice and not a requirement to living a good and healthy lifestyle.
