What are they and how can I use them?

What are "campaign editors" ? I have heard rumors that I can make my own "Stories" for instance:

Title: LIBERATION OF EARTH

1 My custom race has conquered Earth but a small fleet escaped, and is hiding outside of the galaxy inside a nebula where they find precursor technology and plan on returning to reclaim earth and free the human race.

2 I show a "cutscene" maybe the one of the Drengin ships orbiting Earth in the TA campaign. (can I alter their appearance to look like my custom race ships instead of the Drengin?) How can I do this?

3 How can I make all of this happen? I asked this question before on a post but the answer I got was very short and I'm a newbie at modding. so PLEASE show me a detailed step-by-step approach to this. it Would be greatly appreciated thanks!

The campeighn editor is to be found in the quick-launch window under "editors". However, what you are doing sounds more like a Scenario than a Campeign (the editor is in the same place): most of the fields in the various tabs are pretty self-explanatory. The only one I had any trouble with is the ConversationFile field, which can specify a special file of race conversations for use in the scenarios.

And it is not possible to simply change the ship in a cutscene without remaking the entire scene.
