In response to hedgies post:
First off Osmium Shift was kalel making a typo. It was supposed to be Osmium Shit. Now we've all had Osmium shit's before after eating white castle/krystal/taco bell/jack in the box etc.
And Hedgie, as far as paint and i already in a clan, it's a non-competitve FPS clan and not a demigod clan. It's a bunch of us old farts that just like to play various games together. If you get BC2 there is no doubt you will play with some of those guys.
Let's face it, the worst thing about seeing a game die out is not that game itself, but the friends you made playing it. You young whipper snappers will understand one day.
So one recommendation for CP should be the ability to play multiple games lol
In regards to tryouts & ranks etc for a clan.
I will tell you that this just causes problems and political issues a la Survivor/ big brother etc. (FYI i hate those shows lol)
People will try to gain higher ranks and be slighted when they are denied. IF the clan is competitive (ie. leagues & ladders) having a primary team and secondary etc. usally works out well. Also having game specific sub divisions works out ok.
In my experience (which is extensive BTW) Clans are best as either a dictatorship or when they are mostly leaderless (just a few guys who are the organizers) This works for small clans, ie. under 50 people.
(Getting more than 150 people in a guild etc..... well lets just say i never ever want to deal with those headaches again)
Having a person or two able to admin when necessary is fine as well. The bottom line is that the best way it works is if eveyone who is in the clan has essentially an equal voice. This provides long term relationship growth that will span multiple games and years. This is similar to the way Valve runs their company.
Invites are handled by voting amongst the clan. If a person wants to join, they ask a friend of theirs who is a member in the clan. When the member thinks that they would be a good addition and the invitee has played with the clan long enough then the member requests a clan vote. My recommendation is that a high percentage of the clan has to vote yes for someone to join, (it 75% etc.)
And Synn, that is why CP isn't some uber premade ultra l337 stomp all pugs all the time clan. We're just trying to find a nice balance between public and keeping people happy.
Pacov, remind me tonight in regards to a website.
