Thats the way it "should" be working, if you do not use the computer (No mouse or keyboard) for 5 minutes it puts you into Auto Away, then when you hit a key or bump the mouse it should return you to the state you were in before the auto away.
It's been working for me that way, can you please send my your log file if possible?
