Gold Questions from a new Player

(TLDR Below)

First, hello there. I am "VonHenry", and new to Demigod. Just pre-ordered on the 4th. Was never a big DOTA fan, only because I got in 'too late', and didn't want to take the time to learn the 30+ heroes. But the concept I really liked. Decided starting from "Day 1" with Demigod would allow me to be competitive enough to have fun.

So far I'm loving the Beta, though I've just done some matches by myself. 1v1, 2v2 with/against AI. I am a fan of the Rook, and Oak. I like Regulus, but 1v1 I'm having issues with him.

Before I start playing with you all, I want to know the rules for gold. I assume the gold I see on my screen is mine.

I got to the shop, buy what I have gold for, etc. But how does the Citadel work for "team?" Can we share gold?

Does one player only control upgrades there? If everyone is greedy but I purchase minion upgrades at Citadel,

does it count for the team? etc. Just would like this explained, or a link to an answer.

TLDR:

Assumption: The gold displayed on my screen is MY gold, not the "teams gold".

If I'm right, how does the Citadel work? Does each player have thier "own view" of it,

and that contributes to the team? Or does the team have to decide who will buy what team upgrade?

In Beta 2D the gold on your UI is yours alone and you can use it to buy items, idols (summon minions for generals, under star tab in store), or citadel upgrades. Any player on your team can buy citadel upgrades but currently there is no way to pool resources toward an upgrade - you have to wait until you personally have the gold before you can buy an upgrade.

Thanks Kestrel, it did. So as of 2D the Citadel is open for anyone on the team to upgrade, which puts the onus on team communication/cooperation, and a little self sacrifice from time to time to ensure the upgrades are moving along.

At least in my playing I've found them to be helpful....

As far as citadel upgrade strategy - right now I upgrade grunt armor, DG xp, income, and grunt weapons, in that order. I try to save grunt type upgrades (priests, angels, etc) until either my opponents have upgraded them, I have enough gold to buy several at once, or I have map control, as otherwise the enemy gains experience much faster than I do. It's also usually a good idea to throw at least 1 point into building health, worth the 600 gold, imo.

What do other people do?

Speaking of pooling money for Citadel upgrades... I think that is a great idea, maybe just a way to "deposit" money at the citadel so one of the teammates can come up and use their money + the stored money to purchase a big upgrade?

I usually get the structure health/regen upgrade so our forward towers regen... I hate when they get sniped early. Getting 2-3 minion upgrades at a single pop usually surprises the opposing team and catches them unguarded

I find the grunt type upgrades the best, because you really notice they change the game. War rank becomes really important, because it pretty much determines what kinda grunts you have. Once you start getting priests you notice that towers are having problems with dealing with them.

Also the first building upgrade looks really good. It's only 600. Buildings don't have health reg when you start. With this upgrade you get 10% building health and +10hp/reg for buildings. In the long run, health reg is really good. Every little damage that is done becomes restored.
