So, I've just recently installed Sins on my new computer:
Q9550 2.83Ghz quad core processor
4GB 1066mhz DDR2 Ram
2GB video card
And Sins has been running like a dream compared to my last rig, which ran it more like a slideshow. Anyways, I've updated to verson 1.12, and have been running a variation of Sins Plus that's mixed with Bailknight's graphical mod. I also tweaked it a bit myself to increase the population caps by 2.5X, and allow 24 capital ships instead of 18....18 is just a weird number.
Anyways I run a 6-player map, about 200 planets, and all's going well, very little slowdown. When I tried to load a save that was about 3:00 in, the game crashes to desktop, saying something about saving a "minidump". I just shrug it off and load the previous auto-save, which subsequently works perfectly fine and plays for another 45 mins or so. I save, call it a night, and then when I load my latest save, I get the same problem. Sometimes the game crashes at the end of loading screen, sometimes it crashes immediately after the gameplay begins. My old computer (on an older version of Sins and a slightly different mod, if that has anything to do with it) ran this just fine, if slow and choppy. I'm assuming it's not my hardware that's doing this, since there's barely any slowdown at all up to this point. Any ideas?
