If you hover your mouse over the population / treasury text in the bottom left corner of the screen, clicking on either of the popup windows takes you to the research screen, rather than more logical locations (like economy / civilization manager / etc.) Clicking on the research popup obviously takes you to the research screen as well, but I believe that is working as intended.
