I personally am a Vasari player.  they have a decent long-term advantage over the other races (phase missiles against Vasari, kostura cannon can decimate garrisoned enemy fleets by essentially ion bolting them all, and the Returning Armada ability will almost guarantee you a decent sized if not maxed fleet continuously til the end, once you have it.  a fully researched Vasari fleet is quite a force to be reckoned with.

I was going to say the same, the phase gates are one of the biggest reasons I love playing Vasari. Plus I love the way their ships look.

Advent is my favorite race

The Vasari have a definate advantage in large maps (longer games) due to that Phase Stabilizer people are refering to.  They allow you to defend your worlds with a much smaller fleet, giving more resources and ships for the offense.  This is particularly true on large radom maps that may not have many choke points.

I would agree with the people who have suggested that advent ships have fun powers.  They do, the capital ships especially.  However, on larger maps I tend to pick Vasari just due to knowlege that the Phase stabilizer with free me from the need of defensive ships on the majority of my worlds.

I like Advent the best.  TEC came in second.  Vasari is powerful, but I can't play them right.

On topic, compliments to the dev team, even though the difrences betwee the races is rather small, the *feel* you get from playing them is vastly difrent

Advent - i fell just like Ian m Banks culture novell-> the player of games. im not really playing my enemies but rather the map- slow economic consoladation of the galaxy.

Plus Vasari have the mighty Desolator cap ship which can take out a planet by itself. Due to the really cost effective siege platforms. Ha a new strateie in rushing right there. Send ship in beginning of game to enemy planet with siege platforms and boom you win in the first ten minutes.
