Love the Diablo series, love Titan quest, never tried Dungeon Siege, but I've heard good things (at least as far as the sequel is concerned). It's pretty easy to keep me happy playing an ARPG; Make the gameplay fast, make me feel epic, give me unique classes, custom "builds", and give me replayability through character advacement (level, skills, or gear). From what I've read Demigod offers all these things.
But the game is billed as a ARPG/RTS hybrid, but I'm really not a fan of the RTS genre. Granted I haven't played an RTS since the days of WC2, Age of Empires, and early versions of Command and Conquer, but erecting buildings and emassing a giant army to steamroll my opponent's base was never that fun for me. It really comes down to me not enjoying real-time micromanagement of numerous units and structures. I also prefer cooperative play with other humans, not PvP competition. I'd rather experiment with my own character build and join other people to kill scripted boss than fight against human opponents where optimum stragety and perfect reaction time win the match.
Basically, what's the point of this game? What is your goal? Work your way through a linear storyline, gradually growing in power, cooperating with other players? Or is it basically an RTS PVP game where your character improves, but the basic premise of the game is the same- kill other people in a match format? It sounds like a RTS where your hero can level, create a build, add gear, etc, but for all the
I think I understand how the characters differ in ARPG vs. RTS gameplay style but I really don't have any idea what this game is about. Sorry, haven't played DoTa, and only played the first couple missions of WC3 many years ago. The game sounds more like an RTS with ARPG elements because although you're improving your character like an ARPG, the replayability comes from fighting other people online (RTS), not working your way through a co-op campaign (ARPG).
