Here's my scenario:
I've just started the game from scratch. I quickly grabbed a class 10 planet that was just a few spaces away from Earth... So, now I've got two planets.
Planet two has just the colony building on it. Earth has a factory and the Civ Capital building.
I want to pump out ships as quickly as possible, but I also want to be doing research. So I can't set the military slider to 100%. So I've set it to 50%, 50%. Since I'm buying all my buildings for the start of the game, I've put Social to 0%
Now since my colony planet has just the colony building, and both sliders are at 50%, I'm getting 7 Military Tiles, and 8 Research tiles. On Earth I'm getting 14 Military (14+4mp)= 28, so I'm getting half. For Research I'm getting 14 as well, even though I only have the main building that gives me 24tp, I have +20 research which should give me 24tp + (24 x .2) = 28.8... So assume it rounds down to 28, and then divides in half... (this is kind of question, to make sure I have the right idea).
OK - so that's great. I'm producing an equal amount of research and military on each planet per turn. Problem... What if I want a planet to not do any research at all, and just build ships - I want Earth to manufacture only ships. I can't find a way to do this. No matter what I focus on, I'm getting 10tp for research still - which I'd rather go to ship building... But I don't want to set Military to 100, because I want my other planet to do its 8 research per turn.
Is there no way to set a planet to do specific things? Can I only control the percentage for my entire Civilization as a whole? I guess I'm wondering if I can somehow set Earth to 100% Military, while setting the colony planet to 50% and 50% so that I'm building and getting some research out of the deal.
Another thing. I have Social at 0%. When I click on Military to focus on it, I get 16mp instead of 14mp. When I click on Social focus, it shows 9 as the number, with arrows to Military, telling me it's going there. Where is this 9 from? And why isn't Military going from 14 to 23... Doesn't 14 + 9 = 23?
I guess I just don't get where some of the numbers come from. I don't really understand the whole Military/Social/Research thing and how the numbers get to be what they are.
Also - is there a bug on the screen that F1 brings up? The one that shows some basic stats, as well as all your planets... It shows my Income as 69bc/wk, and my expenses as 69bc/wk...
My income certainly is 69 total, however my expenses are only 47bc/wk. It's showing me as making 22bc/wk. So is this a bug that always shows your expenses as maxed out?
That's all I've got right now. Sorry for the drawn out post - I'm just really confused with this game.
I'm running the newest expansion, by the way. Twilight of the Arnor - if that makes a difference on anything.
Thanks.
