I have read the sticky posts - I am using a 1600x1200 resolution with 32-bit color for the desktop. I have plenty of page file space (max allowed under Win XP). I am using an ATI Radeon X1900XTX with the latest drivers. I just recently bought the game so I can't say it ever worked so far. As soon as the intro movie ends, the game crashes. I installed SmartEx but when it catches the crash, it makes it impossible to alt tab, ctrl alt del or otherwise get out of the GalCiv2 window. I did see the SmartEx box pop up under GC2 briefly as windows shutdown when I was forced to hard-power down.
