Deskscapes fails to run at startup

I purchased Deskscapes v2.00 about a week ago and ever since then I've had very inconsistant behavior. When starting the computer, sometimes it will display just a black desktop, not the animation I had running when I last shutdown. Other times (like right now) the computer will boot and I'll see my animation (solar flare) run for about a second and then stop as if it is paused. Right-clicking and pausing-unpausing will not get it to start. I have to reselect the animation either through the "control panel->change desktop background" path or via the Deskscapes program itself. What on earth is wrong here?

System:

Dell XPS M1530, Vista 32-bit, Nvidia 8600M GT 256MB.

Anyone have any advice? Still can't get it to behave properly i.e. always has to be started manually upon computer startup (computer always starts initially with a black desktop instead of the dream animation). Shall I uninstall and tell credit card company?
