I've never seen that. That could be bad. Does anyone know what the selection criteria are for the techs that are automatically traded? It would suck to get like space mining II, and give out doom ray. Essentially, giving gold, and receiving pewp.
When it happened to me it seemed I was getting the lowest techs possible from the comp. I went to the Foreign Relations screen after and compared techs with all the races. It did not appear give them anything major (example: planetary invasion, space weapons and such). I am assuming they get the 'lowest' tech you have also.
It was early in the game (the second meeting of the United Planets) and I was playing a customized Drengin, so all my research was in invasion and weapons techs. It seemed that 50% of the races got some kind of Economic tech from me (taht is usually my 3rd in tech importance. Hey, I like money)
I have to say I liked having that happen. I got a whole bunch of 'basic' techs( 9 to be exact) that I was putting off so I could research "I'm gonna drop people on your planet and take it" techs. Maybe it wouldn't be so cool in the later stages of the game when most of the 'basic' techs have already been researched. It definately makes it interesting, now that all races have individual tech trees in ToA.
