Problem with WindowBlinds 6.1 (Build 55 x86) with skining individual application

using Windows xP style for system and different skin for individual application doesn't work.

Hi,

I purchase WindowBlinds 6.1 yesterday (Extreme package).

I can use different skin for Windows xP (SP2) NO problem.

I can use different skin (exclude Windows xP Style) for Windows xP (Sp2) and different for individual application (like Notepad).

But I use Windows xP Style for Windows xP (Sp2) and different for individual application (like Notepad) that doesn;t work. I meant to say Notepad still uses Windows xP Style. Why is it so. I bought WindowBlinds for that purpose, if that's a feature NOT supported then its useless for me.

Is it specific areas in Notepad that are not getting skinned Dehradun? Could you possibly post a screen shot of the areas you are having problems with. My Notepad here skins just fine, titlebars, pulldowns, etc. I do not quite understand what you are saying.

Using WindowsXP style is how you turn off/stop WindowBlinds from loading at start-up, so what you are wanting will not be possible.

There are some XP style skins you could use, then set other skins for other apps. There is one here that is XP ported to WB skin, Windows XP Style
This will give you the XP Luna look with the advantages of WindowBlinds.

This makes my first reply incorrect as far as not being possible, had no edit button for it so had to post another reply.

Now I got another problem.
What I am find is individual application skinning not complete. Backgorund of a window is still using xP Luna background.
If I use [SD Desktop (WB)] skin for Windows Xp, its works well with my intended app also but If I use xP for Windows and SD Desktop for my individual app, I don't it is completely working.
Any idea.

I am really sorry Dehradun, and I would like to help, but I think you are not understanding using Windowblinds. It is designed to skin the entire operating system GUI for Windows XP and Windows Vista, it is not designed to skin individual applications and work in conjunction with the Luna theme, or any other .msstyles theme.

Thanks for the reply. I guess then what StarDock.com advertise about WindowBlinds is totally wrong. We bought it becuase based on thier claim and its functionality. We never assume anything and in fact we shouldn't. I call support department and ask for a refund since product doesn't do what it promises.

Wait . . maybe I get it.
You want to skin ONE app with one skin and everything else with standard XP.

So you used Windoblinds to apply Windows XP Style and then used the per app exception to apply another skin (called "SD Desktop"?). Now, the one app you set with one skin isn't behaving as you expect? It still shows some of the "Windows XP style" skin?

A screenshot really would help.

but . . "Windows XP style" is an old skin. It may not be working as well as a modern skin might. It might be worth testing with a more modern skin.

or . . it may be a bug. For that you should email supprt@stardock.com before asking for a refund.

Lastly . . can you post the system information from the WB config?

Philly, you can give apps tehir own skin or set them not to skin or even parts not to skin.

In the WB Config: Settings | Change the look of an app | Add per application setting | [browse to app] | Configure your little heart out or click the Select Skin button

The trick is that you have to apply one skin and exclude or adjust whatever . . you can't just skin one app

Thanks guys for getting involve in this issue.
I tried using different skin for windows Xp and my app.
You guys can do this simple experiemnt I also contacted support line and he is still looking into this issue.

Bote: Don't use Windows Xp style (from microsoft) it will tell Windowblinds and DON'T do anything, turn OFF.

Part 1
1. Apply some skin for this test use SD Desktop for Windows Xp system.
2. Start Notepad.exe and open file open dialog box, and save this picture.

Now
Part 2
1. Apply some other skin to windows xP system any one.
2. In windowsBlinds application -> setttings ->change the look of an app.
3. Add Notepad.exe and use SD Desktop skin, don't select any option. Apply these changes
4. Now start Notepad.exe and open File open dialog and check how this dialog box look and compare with the Part 1 step 2 picture.

This will make things clear for everyone.

I used Windows XP Style WB skin and SD Desktop for notepad. Notepad window background and menu bar were white as Windows XP Style. I think this may be due to these being set by classic colors and these may need to be global and used on both skins from main skin, only parts that are images are used on per app skin. If my thinking is right you could test using two skins with very different fonts, as again I think they would be global, so the per app skin would use fonts from main skin. Can't test myself right now as I have a render running.

I try that also, partial success, still see some odditity. I am glad you get the idea what I was trying explain. I will wait for Stardock.com tech support guy to reply and see what he suggest. I would suggest you guys also hold-on and wait for his response I will post his response here

Dehradun you need to use a hosting site, I use ImageShack. Here is a link to the WC Wiki that tells you how to do it. You can use ImageShack for free as you can Photobucket I believe. WWW Link
