Firefox 3 Release & Stardock Site Compatibility
Jul 30, 2008 12:59

Firefox 3.0 goes final and is scheduled for release on Tuesday, June 17th.

There are currently known incompatibilities between Firefox 3 and many of our sites and forums. For the most part, the sites function properly, but have formatting issues. A specific example are the login & password fields to log into these forums. In Firefox 3, instead of both being on the same line, they are stacked vertically.

We will be addressing these visual issues in time. Please do NOT post threads on the forums pointing out Firefox 3 site issues. They will be deleted. We are aware of the problems and will work as quickly as we can to resolve them.

Until posted otherwise, the only version of Firefox our sites support at the moment is Firefox 2.

Am I missing something..?

3 days ago I decided to buy Windowblinds, and not knowing about Iconpackager I opted for the standalone WB offer. Then, I figured I'd like to have IP too, so I bought that one also as a standalone, for $15ish. I bought both products under the assumption that I'd have 1 year of free upgrades. So now I discover that I have to pay another $10 to upgrade IP to v4? Just 3 days after I spent $15 to buy v3? As the title says, am I missing something here?

Usually, if you buy a standalon-version you are able to get free updates until the next full Version (eg: Iconpackager, from Version 3 to Version 3.99, but you don't get Version 4), independent on how long it takes for this new version to be developed (for some programs you might get updates for two years or longer).

However, since you bought Icon-Packager 3 only three days ago, you might (I have to add here that I am not a Stardock representative and I am therefore not sure)get a free upgrade to Icon-Packager 4.

I would suggest you ask Stardock sales (sales@stardock.com) whether that is possible or not. In my experience they are very helpful.

If you download Impulse or Stardock Central, fill in your registration info, you should be able to update for free just as you thought.

You mat need to contact sales though if you have trouble.

It took about 10 minutes to stick.

Anyway, your method might work better. It's all for Nocifer's gain.

I figured that I would have to pay for each major version update, but when I bought IP3 I didn't know IP4 was 3 days from release

Anyway, since I can't seem to update through SD Central (shows version 3.20.163) I guess I'll ask the kind folks of the sales department. By the way, ty both for your replies

Just read at the IP4 support thread that SD are giving IP4 for free to everyone that bought IP3 after February 1st, but we can only get it through Impulse or as a standalone installer (through their site I presume). It makes sense now, SD wouldn't upgrade me and no matter how hard I tried, I can't seem to find where I must go to get the installer at the SD site. Thus, I thought I was s****d. Now I got Impulse, so all should be well ^^
