Just finished my first game, it was a easy first though mianly to get to know the research tree, and to understand the tech of the game. Well it was a 1 v 1 with priates. Medium everything. Basically my entire stargetry was one star system at a time. I built up my fleet took over my star system, then spent some time developing econ well at the same time going for inter star system travel. After I reached a sizeable fleet I began the assualt on my enemy. Which first time arouind was actually fairly difficult... I think it was the fact that I just had to gain the upper hand in the battle. Well anyways I think he was advent and I was Tech.
My first fleet was as follows
1 Kol cap (for colonization)
2 Dreadnaughts
50 LRMs
3 repair ships
15 cobalts
15 heavy crusiers
Felt great my first battle watching my fleet collide with the enemy fleet, then priates jumped in too which made it that much more interseting. I remember having to jump back my kol cap to keep it alive, it nearly died my repair ships weren't able to keep it up to par. My dreads were hit heavily too, I lost roughly 1/2 of LRMs, all Cobalts, and a few crusiers. After this I took over 2 planets in the region, controlled the star in both systems and then rebuilt my army. I took over that star and after I owned 2 complete star systems and my enemy only owned 1 1/2 I was the economical powerhouse with the funding to back a army.
Next time I want to do a 2 v 2 in a bigger galaxy.
However a first questions
Do you guys have like one ship building place that you pump everything out of? Cause I did, I mean it was very well protected, hard to get too. First off it was at the end of a choke point, and to reach this checkpoint you had to go through my star system gaurding fleet, which was sizeable to seriously ruin a invading fleets day. Then after that I had a asteroid with a lot of hangers with fighters, and turrents along with repair bays. So I could retreat my star system fleet to that and conitue that. I figure it'd take a whole big ass army and at least 30 minutes to break through it.
