Does this game run under Vista64?

I'm getting a copy of Vista Ultimate, which I believe comes with both 32bit and 64bit versions. I thought I'd give Vista64 a try (in case I ever want more than 4 gigs of RAM:) ). But first I want to make sure that my software will run. anyone know?

And, while I'm at it: what about steam and MS office? Will these programs work (I presume office will!). Does anyone know of current-gen software (say about 2 years old) that won't work under vista64?

I am aware of needing signed drivers, no need to mention it

The game works fine, had no problems with Steam either.
Don't use MS Office myself, so I can't comment on that.

Overall I've found just about all my games work fine on Vista x64.

If you're going to go to 64-bit, you may want to consider more than 4 Gigs of RAM. Be careful, though, as many motherboards that support both DDR2 and DDR3 only allow up to 4 Gigs of DD3 (just FYI). 64-bit registers take up double the space of 32-bit, so you in essence need more (not double, though) RAM on a 64-bit platform to equate to the same as 32-bit.

Just as a datapoint:

I've used Vista64 with RAM totals ranging from 2GB, 3GB, 4GB, and 8GB.

4GB will do you just fine for any game you might run. 3, actually, does fine. When I downgraded to 2GB, I definitely noticed a difference, but the change from 4GB->8GB has been about nil.

I run games from about 3 years back until now, and have never had a problem running on Vista x64, and Steam works fine as well. I can't say for MS Office, but OpenOffice doesn't have a problem. If MS Office has a problem with x64 when their open source 'competitor' does not, they need to get to work cleaning the egg from their face

Aye, about the same for me. I am currently running Vista Ultimate 64bit, and intend on staying with 4GB of ram for a bit.

All of my games (Including sins) run fine on vista 64. And as others have said, I don't use MS office, I use OpenOffice, which runs fine too.

Thanks for the info guys. I guess I also forgot about the fact that if you're using 4 GB on 64-bit you get the full 4 GB, too, and not 3.2 GB (or whatever the system/video eats up first). So, even though 64-bit memory requirements are greater, you should still be well off.

I am running Vista 64-bit and when i play Sins of Solar empire..every now and then windows will shutdown sins and say this program has stopped working. It is annoying for this to happen for i cannot play multiplayer with constant crashes....can anyone help me out?..i am running Vista 64bit 4GB ram and NVIDIA 6800GTS.

Do you have SP1 yet? It's out. Also try updating your drivers, if they aren't already. There are some Vista specific patches out there, but I'm not sure if they are included with SP1 by default or not.

You do have a fairly old video card for running 64-bit Windows. Maybe it's overheating.
