Would like to point out, you're high Thoumsin when it comes to games/apps that don't use multi-threading or SMP(google if you don't know what it is).
First, you have SMP and multi-threading who are two thing really different... and this is mainly related to the operating system...
By example, Windows XP professional have a support for two physical central processing units (CPU). These support don't exist in the home edition that a LOT of people use !
Because the number of CPU cores and Hyper-threading capabilities on modern CPUs are considered to be part of a single physical processor, multicore CPUs are supported using XP Home Edition.
In my own case, if i was using XP home, only 4 of my core will be available since SMP is not really supported... more bad, my Xeon 5300 "Clovertown" are in reality consisting of two dual-core Woodcrest chips in one package... so, with home edition, it only see two core...
Microsoft Windows Server 2003 operating systems support SMP. Among the 32-bit versions, MS Windows Server 2003 Web Edition supports two-way SMP, the MS Windows 2003 Standard Edition supports four-way SMP, the Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition supports eight-way SMP and the Datacenter Edition supports 32-way SMP. The 64-bit Windows Server 2003 versions support the same SMP standards as theri 32-bit equivalents, except for the 64-bit Datatcenter editions, which includes a 128-SMP version that includes two SMP partitions with 64 SMPs each...
I think that it is normal that the creator of Sins don't use SMP function since the game is make for the more used system, i mean windows XP home edition...
But yes, game engine already exist...
Emerge was created to demonstrate the advanced multiprocessor and multicore support, native platform specific optimizations, and powerful rendering capabilities of Emergent's Gamebryo Element™. Originally shown at GDC 2007, Emerge is fully cross-platform (PC, PS3, and Xbox 360). Emerge also highlights Gamebryo's integration with top-tier technology partners including PhysX, Scaleform's GFx, and RAD Game Tools' Miles Sound System.... take a look at http://www.emergent.net/en/Multimedia/Videos/Emerge-Video/ voor a video...
