just remember people, the damage shown in the above chart and on infocards ingame is not the actual damage used for game mechanics. So, why would the game developers put those numbers in the game. Are they just made up?Perhaps you do not comprehend the word "Average". I believe some of the figures are based on an average.
you haven't checked the entity files yet at all, have you?
the damage numbers are "rough" (saw IC/stardock use that term) estimates.
every number in the game is rounded up or down if its not an integer for display purposes only (isn't rounded up in the game mechanics). This applies to dps, shield mitigation and even % from the research (e.g, like for vasari damage bonus from culture upgrades: 3.75% shows 4%, 7.5% shows 8, 11.25% shows 11). The developers did this to make the UI more "user friendly", however I dont see why having number like 4 instead of 3.xy makes the UI more user friendly or even 4 instead of 3.x. Never saw any mods that change UI in other games to get rid of decimals completely.
basically theres no averaging done in the display, just rounding.
please dont insult me next time by saying I don't know what average means, I didn't want to insult you when you said its too confusing to do something extremely simple and stopped posting all together until they made this a sticky.
heres a nice way to check the entity files without actually opening them.

# DamagePerBank:FRONT 52.250000
# DamagePerBank:BACK 0.000000
# DamagePerBank:LEFT 0.000000
# DamagePerBank:RIGHT 0.000000
# PreBuffCooldownTime 5.500000
52.5/5.5 = 9.5 dps they round it up to 10 for display purposes.
