Ironclad Online, Network Issues and You...

Well, me actually.

Here's the deal:

Im running windows Vista, use Microsoft Live One care and have a Netgear router. Despite doing the following, I cannot have anyone join my online game at Ironclad online. As follows:

I have enabled UPnP
I have port triggered and forwarded 6112
I have shut off my MS live one care firewall.
I have enabled open NAT (Thx The Monk postings)

Yet, Im still unsuccessful in having someone join my game. Upon creating a game I get the message that others may not be able to see it. However, they do, they just can't join.

I know the game is peer to peer but I have no issues joining any other online games such as Company of Heroes, Battlestations Midway and several others. Of course, no issues with any MMORPG on the planet.

So what gives? I believe I have followed every suggestion (official or non official) yet no connection. I want to play the game with a few friends of mine but no one can create a room, have others jump in and go. At this point I am definitely asking for assistance.

Also, i'm VERY learing of uninstalling any firewall completely. I simply should not have to to play. I would hate to leave my system wide open for viruses and such. Anything else it seems Im willing to try.

I am in total agreement. I got home ffrom work today looking foreward to playing a game with my friend. Instead I have spent the past 3 hours reading forum posts, unsuccesfully trying to change my settings, and all-in-all becomming incredibly frustrated with this whole thing. I absoululty love this game, I have been looking foreward to it for a long time....but I dont even want to play it right now (even in single player) because I am so fed up with this bug(if it is even a bug). As has been said a hundered times in these forums, i dont understand what the problem is. I have been playing online games for a long time and have never had a problem with my router or firewall. The fact that it seems to be wide spread makes me think that its a problem that could be solved with a patch instead of 10000 word forum posts about how to reprogram ones computer, or links to programs you can purchase so that you can play your game. Im sorry if this sounds like a rant, im just really frustrated after trying to get this to work all evening.

Ya, I find it kind of ridiculous that we can't play online with friends, half of the online jargin i can't understand, if anyone can give an easy way to play with friends, or a patch, that would be great

Did you check that your firewall is letting the game connect? Many firewalls won't let programs connect without permission, and with Sins running in full screen you may not see the window asking for permission.

lol this game has possibly the worst multiplayer setup in existance

Did you check that your firewall is letting the game connect? Many firewalls won't let programs connect without permission, and with Sins running in full screen you may not see the window asking for permission.


Yes... this is not the issue but I appreciate the effort.

I've said this in another post, but here goes again!   

1. If you've port-forwarded as per my instructions (TCP 6112 game-port and TCP 6000 IC-online) to your PC's internal IP address then you should not have UPNP enabled!

2. If you've relaxed NAT either by enabling "gaming mode" (on D-link routers) or however the other SOHO routers relax their NAT settings you're helping ensuring that not only the clients who have OPEN-NAT, but also the one's with MODERATE-NAT settings will be able to see and connect to your game.

Hi Monk,

Thanks again for the assist. I edited the settings per your instruction but to no avail. I have both 6112 and 6000 enabled but no such luck. Any more info by chance?

Play Hw2 ver 1.0 then get back to me other then that stfu. It took i think 6 months for serria to Fix the problem. They games been out 2 days and looks like it will be fixed by the end of the week or beginging of next.

Question.. when you say PC's internal address do you mean the routers address? if not, how can I find my PC internal ip?

Most of the time, when you get the rejected message it just means a game is already in progress.  The problem is...too many games are in progress compared to the number being set up.

Hi Craig,

This is not what I am referring to. I am familiar with the reject message you are eluding to. I strictly mean me setting up a room, others can see it but not join and vice versa.

I believe im using the correct internal ip adress but still no joy.

How to Host = Open ports 6112 and 6000 both tcp.

So you haven't really played any games lately I take it?

Compared to Company of Heroes, Supreme Commander, Rise of Legends, and Rise of Nations, Sins is a dream.

You just gotta port forward 6112. If your firewall is blocking the port, how is that Sins fault? It uses the same port as most games do these days including WoW.

Stardock and Ironclad for making a great game and...

A very special shout out to The Monk for taking the time and helping me with network issues. If anyone from Stardock or Ironclad is seeing this, Please hire him as a consultant for future patch (network related) releases. He has gone to the Nth degree in helping MANY of us deal with router/firewall tasks in order to get IC online workable. Perhaps a patch in the near future may be able to help the majority of your customers.
