Right maybe, i should be happy it runs at all... but i'm not

Yesterday i bought the gold edition through stardock, installed it... well after spending an hour trying to figure out how to download it of course...
I get to the game world screen i'm running 80+ fps. Nice! I pan the screen, i get 5fps... Ok not nice!
So I come here, take a quick look around, to find others with the same problem who are told to basically make sure they have the latest drivers. Now while i'm extremely sceptical that a driver update will accomplish ANYTHING but waste more of my time, since my last update was about a month ago, i decide not be a smartass, and do so anyways. I now have the latest nvidia drivers found on nvidia.com. I run the game, i get 80fps, i move the screen, i get 2fps...
I get a 'tad' frustrated... I decide to ask for help. I'm made aware that it is prudent to include the rundown of the debug.err file.
I then spend about an hour browsing through folders, searching my hd and generally HUNTING around my HD trying to find a file called debug.err, or anything close to it, but fail miserably.
My specs:
AMD64 2800
1 gig of generic ram
GF 6600GT 128mb
Running vista
Running latest nvidia drivers (yes i'm SURE)
Plenty of HD left
My questions:
- wtf?!
- Is there any known fix for this?
- Where the hell is the debugg file?
- Why oh why did i convince myself that this issue would only be present in the demo?
Affectionately yours,
Me..
