I still get them on some worlds but no where as much as in previous versions . I never get the 700% tiles anymore ...ever ! In about 50 colonies on a huge map I might get 2-3 with special tiles .

Now that was an interesting one. I had a +700% Research tile, two +100% Research tiles, a +100% Manufacturing tile and a +100% Morale bonus tile, all on my homeworld. Unfortunately the star systems nearby really sucked so I hit Ctrl-N to try to get a better position.

Yeah, I can't figure what the HRG mod might be doing. When I unload the mod, the problem seems to persist--so I had ruled it out. Maybe it's one of the files changed by the mod and I'll just have to do a re-install, which is a major, major argh. Besides, I like the HRG mod, and I hate losing it.

But it's good to hear possible corroboration. Is Logic Sequence aware of this? Kryo suggested it was just bad luck on my part, and honestly I agreed for the first couple dozen games.

It has nothing to do with the High Res Mod. I'm running it too, and I'm getting plenty of specials. I guess you just aren't being very lucky.

So, it's just bad luck that I've been coming up with practically nil on the special tiles? I thought it might be some patch monkey making things "better". The past few games I've played, I'd be lucky to get even a single special on one planet in fifty.

I like the cheese factor, because I'm generally such a sucky player that I have a hard time getting decen econ in even a beginner level game. I still *win* in any manner of my choosing, but I'm holding off on going higher difficulty until I can learn how to make these high income levels. The specials used to be my only saving grace. I do read the tips and strategies posted, but apparently I can't follow directions very well, since I have not even a 100th of what some people post for their late game econ levels.

I'd like to see a slider introduced to influence the number of times I get a special on a planet. 'Cause I don't care if it's cheese, I like getting that tile (or tiles) that makes the new colony "special".

I don't know. I want to say "yes, it's bad luck" but to have it happen in 35 starts (since I've been counting), with all sorts of different variables, seems like something other than just luck. We're talking about literally thousands of planets which aggregate into a statistically meaningful difference. I'm just not sure WHY the difference exists--the HRG mod shouldn't (and I honestly believe can't) have an effect, especially with people clearly using it and not having the problem. I just don't have the knowledge to check the gears and see HOW it's coming up this way--there's luck, and then there's probability. Whatever the source, something's having a wacky effect on planet generation.

I bought this game last Wednesday and have been playing every night since, and I can say that I've never seen any bonus tiles on any planets other than the home world. Last night I had 12 planets and only the home world had special tiles on it.

There certainly seems like fewer bonuses than compared to DL but I am finding them on all sorts of worlds, I never played DA prepatch so I couldn't comment on DA prepatch. I did run across an AI world recently that had 700% research, 300% and 100% manu tiles. I was not impressed, no wonder they were doing so well on technology. And they would have been the last race I targetted as well.

On a related note I tried the third in the DA campaign (you and the Korath against 3 or 4 other races) and the amount of bonus tiles the Korath and I found was absolutely ridiculous. I'm sure every planet we colonised had at least one bonus tile on it, including 300% and 700% tiles. I didn't restart to find out so was wondering, are the campaign maps premade or just random ? The previous map suggests the maps are at least partially coded for.

All my DA games so far have been on large maps with anomalies/asteroid=abundant, and everything else common. In all but one game, I had 80%+ of the galaxy by the end and had no more then 3 bonus tiles. None higher then 100%. I just figured that was one of the changes with DA. If they're still supposed to be as frequent as DL, then I'd say it's a bug. KHSM is the only mod I'm running.

Agreed--I was stoked to be playing, but without the specials and the "aw man, what luck!" factor, a big chunk of my excitement in exploration is lost. It might seem like cheese to some people, but finding that sweet spot is far too marvelous to just aw-shucks-too-bad it away. I LOVE SPECIALS, BRING MINE BACK!

I installed KHSM (the latest version) as well, before I switched to the HRG mod. But I also don't know why KHSM would ever affect planet generation, because that makes even less sense than the HRG mod doing it. It must be some kind of bug or file that's gone wonky in my install. Who the heck knows?

Right! This time around not even my homeworld had any specials. Not to mention the other planets witch of course also do not have any specials.
This is just getting worse all the time.
It´s very repetitive and boring to colonize planets whitout any specials anywere.

I just want to once more serioursly point this out. I would be very happy if wer could get some kind of confirmation that this bug indeed will be fixed as soon as possible.

Also, I have noted that during my last 5 games or so, I have also not had any planet colonization events at all. (or any other alignment-determining event either)
I´m starting to wonder if theese two things are related somehow?


Then a bit more whining about about the planets .. maybe this is a bit off-topic...
But overall I would like to see planets beeing even more unique. Not only more different kind of surfaces but more like truly unique planets.

The new concept of special techologies needed in order to colonize different kind of planets is great and the planet specials also, but it would be very much fun if the planets could be truly unique.

So that what determinates a PQ could be a sum of attributes (such as Gravity, Radiation and size) and that theese atributes could have different kind of penalties or bonuses that applies on any given world.
This would not need to be any kind of a complex systen either.

Howver, I realize this will hardly happen in the near future ... perpahs in an expansion ... or in GC III
