Entire computer freeze after 5 to 60 seconds after launching game

Hey, i already made a post about my problems earlier in the "known issues sticky".

However i wanted to add something. I play now the unpatched unregistered version again. And it works perfectly. However if i patch to any given patch that has come out, i get the same old "freezes after 5 seconds problem".

Any idea what could cause this problem due to a "fix" in the current patches given example 1.1 to 1.4??

Maybe this will help you guys a bit

There have been all sorts of changes over the patches, so it'd be hard to narrow down when there's a whole year of patches to consider. You may want to try some of the patches in between to see if they work or freeze as well. While they aren't here, you should be able to find them on third-party sites like fileplanet. FP has the 1.2 patch at least, which you could try.

sorry, but english is not my native language, so i can be misleading sometimes.

What I meant was, i already tried all the released patches from 1.1 to 1.4.

And in all patches even 1.1 it has the same gamefreezes. So i think it is something implemented in 1.1.

Ah, ok. I couldn't really say myself--there were a *huge* number of changes (see here) just between 1.0 and 1.1.

When you start a new game, do you do anything in particular before it freezes, or does it freeze during the load/before you can do anything at all?

no, it is like a timer is set off the moment i press the shortcut to galciv2.exe.

After the "timer" expires my computer freezes. Being that in a menu screen, option screen, race selectings creen, or any other given screen.

If it's freezing even in the menus without you doing anything, that would definitely point to some sort of hardware-related issue. Were you unable to borrow another video card to try like we talked about before?
