Does anyone else have this problem. I am using version 1.2. Every time I start a new game on a large, and upwards in size map, I always get placed in a corner with all the other civilizations placed in a semi-circle around me. What the heck!? Basically one civilization is placed outside this circle and they always dominate the map. I'm placed so close to other civilizations that I can see them on my first turn of the game. I just have to move my survey ship one movement point. The only way I can play a 'real' game is to put the map size on medium and have about 5 other races. I tried playing on a HUGE map with 9 opponents and we all got stuck in the corner again. I tried 7 opponents on a large map and we all had a corner party. This is freakin killing my love for this game. Every single game on a map bigger than medium I always have a corner party. For some strange reason I thought I read somewhere that this problem had been fixed. Maybe that was a dream I awoke from. Making placement random is realy not that hard. I've done A LOT of random coding. And movement on the map is a essentially based on a freakin 2d grid! Just put in the code that if placement is a certain radius away from at least 3-9 or 4-9 civilizations to place it somewhere else. The concept isn't that hard. I'm just ranting so people will know how annoying this is. So does any one have similar problems or am I the lucky one who finds bugs after the final version of a release comes out. I am using 1.2. It is not the 1.2 beta. Yes I know they are working on the 1.3 beta, but the developers have not posted that they are fixing this problem. I realy don't understand how, with all the stars on a HUGE map, (stars and planets are set to abundant), the developers want everyone to be squished into a corner. Computers only do what they are told to do.
