In a way, yes: Your total score is defined by the average score you received and the number of games you played (that's not exactly how it is calculated, but it's equivalent). Thus, when you significantly lower your average score by submitting a lost game with little points, you'll usually end up lowering your total score.

It's a sad story. I submitted one lost game and my average score dropped, so indirectly it did also harm to my empire.
Most times I finish my games, even if I'm going to loose, because it can be a lot of fun fighting to the bitter end. Unfortunately you can't send this games to metaverse to keep record of them because nobody else does.
Maybe lost games shouldn't lower ones score, just record them and don't count them in ...

Good discussion, perhaps if the average score portion was dropped as has been suggested in the past more folks would submit losing games. Definitely would be useful in a statistical probability equation.

I agree that losing games should not count. This way everyone will post all the games they play. Truth is I have not lost a game yet as I did alot of playing before trying metaverse (lost a lot of those) and when I started playing metaverse I didn't know you could load the autosave to continue later and would not be able to finish the games I played. I do have a question about this. I am still not sure but if you can load all games then why worry about metaverse scoring anyway. I look at it as you should play straight through and if you have a problem you can restart the autosave only. If you can load then you save often and just reload so you would never lose anyway. Can metaverse be setup so that you save to them and that way you have to finish a game and you can only continue form where you left. This would make the scores count.

Maybe I am strange, but I would think that the system should not have to be changed just to compensate for the players that have no honor...
On the other hand, since I am still playing the demo (next month I should finally be able to afford the game perhaps I have even less honor..

Perhaps they could make it so that once a game is registered on the Metaverse, the outcome is automatically submitted. No choice on your part.

It would be fun to struggle to survive as long as possible and get as good a score as possible, rather than quit and start again.

I know you can do that now, but very few do, if you have a choice.

I have lost one time at a level that was too hard me at the time and I did the right thing and submitted it. The problem is with how I lost... I accidentally surrendered in the trade screen. I was totally winning as well. I bet that race was surprised to get my surrender.

Anyway, I worked so hard up to that point that I figured I'd send it in, thinking everyone reports their loses. But, after looking I was amzaed that everyone here is UNDEFEATED! Nice going everyone!

I would like to see a game 'have' to get submitted once it is started, win or lose. This would only work under a perfect non-crashing program though. There would be too many complaints of having to submit a game that became unplayable for some reason or another.

But having to submit all Metaverse games that you start would give a more realistic ranking of just how good of a player you actually are. As it is, everyone wins all games they play.
